Tee-Ball team Top the Division

On Monday, Hillsmeade played against Lyndhurst Primary School in the Tee Ball Division Finals.  Lyndhurst displayed some great skills and provided some strong competition, but in the end, Hillsmeade’s commitment during training paid off and won 31 runs to 3.

Mixed Netball and AFL teams off to the Regional Finals

Last Monday 18th July, Hillsmeade’s grade 5/6 football team travelled to Lynbrook Primary School. It was a very windy match that saw the students coming away with a close win of only 2 points. We congratulate the team in moving forward to the Regional Finals in the coming weeks.

On Friday 15th July, the mixed netball team played its Divisional final against Coral Park. It was a great game with the final score being 35-7.

IT Improvements and ANZAC Day

Dear Parents/Guardians –

Hillsmeade School Improvements – Information Technology 2016

With the exciting opening of the new school oval now two months old the school has turned its focus to Information Technology and updating the current IT infrastructure throughout the school.

In 2015 the school purchased 14 x 60” HD TV’s and installed these in classrooms. The school also began preliminary work in devising a plan to begin the replacement of over 80 desktop and notebooks computers.

Early 2016 the school arranged the purchase of 14 more 60” HD TVs and these have been installed in the remaining classrooms throughout the school. These screens are used daily to provide explicit instruction and engage students in learning activities.

Furthermore, the school committed to purchasing 120 x iPads, 90 Netbooks and 28 Notebooks. These resources will be distributed throughout the school and Learning Centre and will provide both students and teachers with access to current technologies in teaching and learning. The first roll out of these devices is expected in the upcoming month of May.

Over the year the staff will continue to receive professional development on the use of these IT devices in the classroom and how to maximise their effectiveness for student learning and engagement.

Planning for the attainment of more digital devices in 2017 is already underway as the school strives to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.

On Tuesday 26th April students from Alkira visited our school to conduct an ANZAC Day service with our year 5/6 student. We were fortunate to hear from two ANZAC veterans and learn more about the ANZAC story.
