Lesson Information

Photography – Black and White

  • Using a camera/iPad/smartphone, practise taking photos of a subject of your choosing.
  • Turn on the grid on your device if possible.
  • Frame the subject and make sure it is in focus by tapping on the screen.
  • Take your photo.
  • Select your photo in your photo library and click edit.
  • Scroll through the filters and select black and white.
  • Repeat these steps with a new subject.

Lesson Information

Photography – Emotions

  • Chose a subject to take photos of. It could be a family member, or even yourself.
  • Decide what emotion will be shown.
  • Think about what the subject will look like when showing that emotion.
  • Think about how close you should be when taking a photo of that emotion.
  • Sadness or loneliness might be taken from far away or from a high angle.
  • Happiness might be taken close up to see the happy expressions.
  • Think about whether a filter would help improve the photo. Maybe black and white for sadness or warm filters for happiness.

Lesson Information

Storyboard to film

  • Using your storyboard from week 5 (or make a new one), look at the short story you are telling.
  • Use your knowledge of camera angles from last week.
  • Do any of the shots need to change to make them better?
  • Find a location to film and bring your device.
  • Film each shot from your story board.
  • Have a look back at your videos. Do they look like your storyboard?

Challenge: If you are able to, open iMovie and put your shots together in order.

Lesson Information

Photography – Rule of thirds

  • Using a camera/iPad/smartphone, practise taking videos of something or someone.
  • Try the different camera angles and movements.
  • Try close ups, pans, tilts, low angles etc.
  • Look back at your videos and see what each shot looked like.
  • Which angle was the best for capturing your subject?

Storyboards

  • Think of a short story you could plan to film.
  • It could be shooting a basketball, baking a cake, waking up etc.
  • Draw 6 rectangles on a page, just like in the lesson video.
  • In each box, sketch what the scene will look like.
  • Make sure you sketch the shots in order, like a comic book.

Advertising Voice Over Recording

  • Write down a brief summary of an item in your house, for example a favourite toy, sports equipment.
  • Using an iPad/iPhone/tablet/smartphone, open the video camera or voice memo app.
  • Record yourself talking about how wonderful the item is.
  • Listen back to your recording. Does it sound like you? Do you sound different when recorded?

  • Using a camera/iPad/smartphone, practise taking photos of symmetry.
  • Turn on the grid on your device if possible.
  • Position the subject with symmetry in the centre of the screen.
  • Take the photo.

Share your photos with someone and ask them what they notice. See if they can pick the symmetry in your shot.
