To use acting skills to play a drama game.

Lesson Information

  • This activity is to play the drama game called ‘Animals’.
  • On a piece of paper write down a list of animals that you know here are some ideas:

wombat, possum, kangaroo, koala, cat, dog, snake

  • Cut out each animal and put them into a container.
  • Ask someone in your family to call out an animal and you then start acting out the sounds, actions and movements that animal would make.
  • Your family might like to play the game with you.

Reflection

Draw a picture of an animal you enjoyed acting out.


Lesson 9

Learning Intention

To use mime to act out everyday tasks.

Lesson Information

  • This activity is to do miming.
  • This is when you act things out but don’t use your voice (think of it like playing Charades).
  • Have a go at acting out things you would do every day like cleaning your teeth, reading a book, eating breakfast, riding a bike, walking a dog.
  • Perform your mimes in front of your family and see if they can guess what you are doing.
  • Members of your family might like to also act out a mime for you to guess.

Share with your family which mime you enjoyed acting out.


Lesson 8

Learning Intention

To use acting and performance skills.

Lesson Information

  • This activity is to create a play about ‘Friendship’ for the Learning Task.
  • Think about the story line for your play.
  • What is going to happen in your play about friends? Some ideas are – playing on the playground, a birthday party, a classroom activity, asking someone to join your game.
  • Ask members of your family to be in your play as the friends.
  • You could perform it on a stage area at home and film it or take some photos and email them to me.

Lesson 7

Learning Intention

To act out a role play.

Lesson Information

  • This week we are going to rehearse a short role play.
  • You can choose one of the following (or make up your own).
    • A day at the beach
    • Having a picnic or a tea party
    • Playing with friends on the playground
    • Going to the zoo
    • A birthday party
  • Think about some props you could also use in your play.
  • Ask your family members to be in your play with you or they could be in the audience.

Lesson 6

Learning Intention

To create a prop to use in an imaginary world.

Lesson Information

  • Think of an imaginary world you could create. (example. a planet in space, a magic castle, a spacecraft, a pirate ship, a magic carpet ride around the world)
  • Think of an item or object that you might find in your imaginary world and this can be the prop.
  • You may have some objects at home you could use. eg (a helmet for being in space, a treasure map, a magic wand)
  • You could even create a prop with craft supplies.
  • Once you have made or found your prop. Ask someone at home to guess the imaginary world you could use it in.

Learning Intention

To use acting and performance skills.

Lesson Information

  • Act out and perform one of your favourite stories.
  • It could be a fairy tale or a picture story book that you know.
  • You could use costumes and even props in your play.
  • Ask members of your family to be the different characters or read out each page of the story for you.
  • You could also ask your family to be the audience for your performance.

Share with your family what you enjoyed about performing today.


Lesson 4

Learning Intention

To present a costume parade.

Lesson Information

  • Have a costume parade.
  • You could have a theme like colours, a favourite story or fairy tale characters.
  • You can use clothes you have at home or any costumes you already have.
  • You can set up a walkway to parade your costumes.
  • You could ask your family to be the guests at the parade.

Reflection

Draw a picture of your favourite costume from the parade.

Learning Intention

To create and act out a puppet play.

Lesson Information

  • You can use puppets, Lego or toys at home as the characters to create the play.
  • A great idea for a play is to create one about friendship.
  • You could set up a stage area in your house to perform.
  • You could ask your family to be the audience while you perform.

Talk to your family about what you enjoyed about your play.


Lesson 2

Learning Intention

To create a character puppet.

Lesson Information

  • To create your puppet you can make it out of a paper plate, paper bag, material or even socks.
  • Decorate your puppet by adding features including eyes, ears and a mouth.
  • Think of a voice you can use for your puppet.
  • Spend time playing with your puppet by holding on to it and moving it around.

Share your character puppet with a member of your family.


Lesson 1

Learning Intention

To draw a picture of the Performing Arts.

Lesson Information

  • Draw a picture of something you enjoy that is related to the Performing Arts.
  • It could be a picture of an activity you actually do outside school or enjoy to do.
  • You could draw yourself dancing, singing, acting, using dress ups, performing on stage in a concert, using puppets or making plays.

Reflection
