To play an Indigenous Australian game.

Lesson Information

  • Today we will be playing the game called Diyari Koolchee.
  • This is an Indigenous Australian game from the region near Lake Eyre.
  • You will need a ball and something to knock over such as a drink bottle.
  • To play the game, each player attempts to knock over the target by bouncing the ball off the wall.
  • The ball has to hit the wall before it knocks over the target.

Challenges:

  • Try and stand further away.
  • Change the position of the target.

Lesson 9

Learning Intention

To mirror the dancer’s movements.

Lesson Information

  • Today we are going to use our movement skills by dancing to some music.
  • The song that we are dancing to is called ‘Do the Yeti’.
  • During the song you will need to mirror the dancers on the screen.
  • Try and copy the moves as best as you can.
  • Come up with some moves of your own.

Lesson 8

Learning Intention

To complete the Learning Task.

Lesson Information

  • Click here to do the Year 1 PE Learning Task.
  • The Learning Task will load as a Microsoft Form.
  • Students are to enter their name and class onto the Form.
  • The Learning Task has questions on catching a ball, hopping, heat rate and balancing.
  • Students will also be asked how many star jumps they can do in a minute.
  • Students to rate the remote learning PE lessons out of 5 stars.

Lesson 7

Learning Intention

To develop my balancing skills.

Lesson Information

  • Set up your obstacle course.
  • You can use anything in your house or classroom.
  • Here are some suggestions: cushions, towels, steps and chairs.
  • Remember not to go too fast and hold your arms out to help you balance.
  • If you are jumping off the end of your course, land in the motorbike position.
  • You could even try this outside.

Challenge:

Add some objects to pick up along your course. Try and pick them up without falling over.

Lesson 6

Learning Intention

To practice underarm throwing by completing a bottle flip.

Lesson Information

  • For this lesson we are focusing on accuracy rather than distance and speed.
  • The underarm throw is used to propel an object a short distance accurately.
  • Hold the bottle by the lid.
  • Throw the bottle underarm.
  • The bottle should complete one rotation and land the right way up.
  • Challenges:

Try and get two in a row.

Lesson 5

Learning Intention

To explore how your heart rate varies during exercise.

Lesson Information

  • Take your resting heart rate by placing your pointer and middle fingers either on the inside or your wrist or on the side of your windpipe just below the jawbone.
  • Once you can feel your pulse, count how many beats you feel in 15 seconds.
  • Multiply this number by 4 to get your heart rate.
  • Do the following activities for one minute, taking your heart rate after each one.
  • Star jumps, high knees, running on the spot and jumping.

Learning Intention

To play a game of bocce.

Lesson Information

  • Find four balls for each person playing. (If you cannot find any then make them out of scrunched up paper).
  • Place a small ball (or any small object) in front of you. This will be the target that you are aiming for.
  • Take it in turns to throw each of your balls at the target.
  • The player whose ball is closest to the target at the end of the game is the winner.

Lesson 3

Learning Intention

To create and play a game of hopscotch.

Lesson Information

  • Find a surface that you can draw on with chalk.
  • Draw your hopscotch game with the chalk.
  • Find a small object such as a stone and throw it onto the first square.
  • Hop through the squares skipping the square with the stone on it.
  • On your way back to the start pick up your stone.
  • Throw your stone onto the second square and hop through the squares skipping that square.
  • Continue playing the game until you have thrown your stone onto every number.

If you are unable to draw a hopscotch game with chalk or are unable to go outside you can get creative. Come up with your own sequence of hopping and jumping. For example your sequence could be hop, hop, hop, jump, jump and hop.

To set myself a fitness challenge.

Lesson Information

  • See how many sit-ups you can do in a 45 seconds.
  • See how many star jumps you can do in 45 seconds.
  • See how many push-ups you can do in 45 seconds.
  • See how many squats you can do in 45 seconds.
  • Give yourself a five minute rest and see if you can beat your previous attempts.

Lesson 1

To attempt to juggle.

Lesson Information

  • Practice throwing the ball up and catching it in the other hand.
  • Pass the ball from your catching hand back to your throwing hand.
  • Now try with two balls.
  • When one ball is in the air, pass the other ball to your throwing hand.
  • Every time that one ball is in the air, pass the other ball from your catching hand to your throwing hand.
  • For a challenge, try to juggle with three balls.
