Photography – Animal subjects
- Choose a pet or animal for you subject (a toy will work if you don’t have any pets).
- Get them playing with a toy/doing tricks or just laying around the house.
- Take photos of your pet, remembering the different rules of photography:
- Rule of thirds
- Fill the frame
- Symmetry
Try editing the photo to change the filter, brightness, shadows etc.

Photography – Panoramic Photos
- Open the camera app and select “Pano”
- Find a location where there is plenty to see. Maybe on your daily walk.
- Once you have selected your location, take the photo, and slowly move the camera across your scene.
- Try a few different locations. You can even move from ground up to the sky.

Comic Book Character Design
- Start with a simple idea. What is your hero’s main power?
- Use the idea of their power to help you with your design.
- What colours would match this power? What symbol could you use?
- Draw your character and design their outfit. Will they wear a mask? A helmet?

To understand smartphone applications.
Lesson Information
App Design
- Think of something that people want or need.
- It might be an app that changes photographs, gives you updates on something, or it could be a game.
- Start by designing the icon for your app.
- Keep it simple so that people can easily recognise it.
- Make the image relate to your idea e.g. an ice cream for a Mr. Whippy app.
- Come up with a catchy name.
- You can use figurative language such as alliteration e.g. The Big Ball game.

Lesson Information
Watch a clip of the best film making logos:
- What could your logo be? Try to include your name or something you love e.g. Unicorn Studios
- Draw a sketch of a few ideas of what it could look like.
- What colours stand out? Can we easily read your logo name?
Reflection
Share your logo with somebody and ask them for feedback. Do they like it? What ideas do they have to add to it?

Watch The Copy:
Write a short review or opinion of the show.
What did you like about the show?
What didn’t you like?
What was the best part and why?
How could it have been better? What else would you have liked to see be copied?

To understand audio recording.
Lesson Information
Narration
- Choose a picture story book that you would like to read.
- Using an iPad/iPhone/tablet/smartphone, open the video camera or voice memo app.
- Record yourself reading the story.
- Listen back to your recording. Does it sound like you? Do you sound different when recorded? How could you change your voice to make the story more interesting to the viewer?

Think about what adjustments you made during filming, and how your voice and delivery improved.

To understand rules of photography.
Lesson Information
Photography – Rule of odd
- Using a camera/iPad/smartphone, practise taking photos of a subject using the rule of odd.
- Turn on the grid on your device if possible.
- Choose a subject with an odd number (3,5,7 etc). It might be a collection of something, spoons, toys etc.
- Take the photo.
Reflection
Share your photos with someone and ask them what they notice. See if they can pick the odd numbers in your shot.

Lesson Information
Photography – Leading Lines
- Using a camera/iPad/Smartphone, practise taking photos of a subject using leading lines.
- Turn on the grid on your device if possible.
- Choose a place where you can see lines. It might be the edge of a table, picture frames, lines on the floor etc.
- Put your subject (the person or thing you are taking a photo of) at the end of those lines.
- Take the photo.
